Over the weekend, I read a great article by 4unate entitled What Your Husband REALLY wants for Valentine's Day. One of her suggestions was to "take a meaningful moment today and stop and tell your husband the top 5 things that he admire about him."
I admire my husband for:
his love of simplicity
his faith in God
his sense of humor
his positive attitude
But even more than these things, I would also like to tell you a little story about my husband.
Yesterday, my husband came down with a raging head cold. He spent most of the day in bed and in his pajamas, very atypical for him. Today, even though he wasn't feeling any better, he went to work. He came home, still feeling lousy, however he must have noticed I was at wit's end with the girls and needed a break. Without asking or commenting, after dinner, he gave the girls baths, read to them, and put them to bed. I did not ask him to do this, he didn't complain, he just did it. If that isn't the best Valentine's gift in the world, I am not sure what is...
Happy Valentine's Day...whether you receive a diamond ring, roses or a well-needed break so you can do your dishes in peace, please let your Valentine know you appreciate him and love him very much.
