This week has not been a good one so far at A Simple Twist of Faith. For the first time since I started staying home eight months ago, "Ladybug" is sick . It started on Sunday, and I was hoping it would be just a simple cold. However, yesterday, she willingly took a three hour nap. Today, she told me she did not want to go to her Daisy Girl Scout meeting. After that, I called the doctor. Diagnosis: strep throat.
I feel so sorry for her. Her throat is very sore and her fever spiked up over 100. She is such a physically small person, at the doctor's office this afternoon, she weighed all of 37 lbs. She is the most petite member of her Daisy troop, and of her "China sisters", the ten little girls from her orphanage who were adopted by our travel group.
Despite, her diminutive status, her faith and spirit are strong. To her, God the Father is almighty, all-powerful, and all-loving, and Jesus is her best friend. She recently told me she wanted to be a saint and hear Jesus speak to her in her heart. This morning even though she was feeling bad, she prayed the entire Rosary with me.
She is always asking God for help, whether it be on the parking ground or during her math lesson. When I hear her little prayers, it makes me smile and think of Saint Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower, when she was a child.
Tonight, her throat was really hurting her. We prayed for her health as I put her to bed. She called out in frustration, "Come on, God, make me better NOW, why are you waiting?"
"Lord, please make my little saint better and ease her pain. She is my sunshine."
