This weekend I will be attending a retreat at our church called CRHP (Christ Renews His Parish). My husband went two weeks ago for the mens' weekend, now it is the womens' turn. It is an overnight event, so I am looking forward to it, yet a little anxious to leave my girls at the same time. My husband said he thinks I will enjoy it, there will be group activites but also plenty of time for quiet prayer and reflection.

Today ends my oldest daughter's first week of swim lessons. She has three more to go, and she is loving it! This week she has been learning the arm motions for free style stroke. My youngest daughter loves to watch her big "sissy" in the pool. In Juluy, she will be taking a Tiny Tots swim class with me. She is really not a tot, however she is unable to take her four weeks of swim lessons until she is four in August. One goodthing, she will definitely be ready for them!

This week I have been woring on organizing our home schooling supplies, and moving them to a nw location. Believe it or not, it is a MUCH bigger project than the garage! I'll be glad when I finish this project!

Today is the premier of Cars2, and Gram is taking us to the movies. The girls do not know yet, so it will be a great surprise! Ladybug is a tomboy for sure, and Bumblebee has never been to a movie theater, so it should be a fun event.

Today the Church also celebrates the nativity of John the Baptist. In the Magnificat this morning, Fr. Peter John Cameron, O.P. wrote an insightful essay on:
"Why Do We Celebrate the Birth of John the Baptist?"
The nativity of Saint John the Baptist is a sacred reminder of the fact that I need born in my life every day:
-
someone who leaps with joy before the presence of the Lord making me want to live my own relationship with Jesus with greater ardor and fervor;
-
someone to prepare the way of the Lord and to give me knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of my sins;
-
someone who turns my attention away from my distractions and preconceptions so that I will behold the Lamb of God as the true desire of my heart;
-
someone who is a burning and shining lamp whose radiance gives light to my path and courage to my heart, making me want to live for others;
-
someone so committed to th truth that he is willing to lay down his life for Truth-become-flesh-witnessing to me that all true happiness comes through self-sacrifice;
-
someone whose sanctity proclaims that there is no man born of woman greater than he is but that can share his greatness if I Love Jesus as he did..
